As we’re edging towards Apple’s 2018 iPhone launch, slight hints that corroborate earlier leaks for the smartphones are surfacing regularly. Just last week Apple’s test feed for the upcoming event’s live stream leaked, enabling a glance at the iPhone X(s) and the Apple Watch 4. Subsequently, more images came our way courtesy of Venya Geskin. Now, the 6.1″ iPhone 9 (tentatively dubbed) just might have surfaced on the Chinese FCC equivalent – the TENAA. Take a look below for more details.
The 6.1″ LCD iPhone Rumored To Launch Next Month Might Have Passed Through The Chinese TENAA’s Database
Two months back, we saw several new iPhones and iPads from Apple listed on the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC)’s website. These seemed to confirm rumors that Apple is not only considering to launch three new iPhones, but also provided more details for new variants of the iPad lineup.

The iPhones were divided into three categories according to the model numbers. These fall in line conveniently with the fact that Apple is also rumored to launch three iPhones this year – namely the iPhone 9, iPhone X(s), and iPhone X(s) Plus. Before we proceed, take a look at the model numbers listed in the EEC filing below:
- A1920, A1921, A1984
- A2097, A2098, A2099
- A2101, A2103, A2104, A2105, A2106
Despite the apparent suggestion, do not take the three categories to directly represent the three new iPhones expected this year. Apple’s codenames for the current iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, andiPhone X don’t follow such a logical pattern. With this in mind, one of the devices listed above has just entered the Chinese TENAA’s systems.
Two Variants Of The Purported 6.1″ LCD iPhone Make It To Certification Authority, Providing Solid Proof For Their Existence Days Before Apple’s Upcoming Launch Event
As you can see above, the iPhone A1920 and A1921 have surfaced on the Chinese TENAA. We’re not sure which iPhones they represent, but in all likelihood, the A1920 is definitely the 6.1″ LCD iPhone 9 that’s tentatively dubbed so far as the iPhone. The iPhone A1921 might be either the iPhone 9 or the iPhone X(s), depending on Apple’s decisions for the smartphones’ reference names.

We’ve got a big event headed our way, not in the least due to the three iPhones. In addition to the smartphones, Apple’s also expected to upgrade the iPad and the Apple Watch. In fact, sparse rumors have also claimed that the MacBook Air might also witness a refresh. In regards to the iPad, if Apple does update its Pro lineup, then a particular point of interest will be the processor.
The company launched the previous iPad Pros with its A10X and the A11 chip that powers the 2017 iPhone lineup makes significant improvements over its predecessor. Which will make the 2018 iPad Pro’s A11X processor even more worthwhile (should Apple decide to launch the tablet.
