2018 iPhone Lineup’s AMOLED Panels Will Beat Samsung Believes Tipster

Current reports from the rumor mill suggest that Apple will launch three new iPhones this year. The company finally introduced a new look for the iconic smartphone lineup last year, by introducing Face ID on the iPhone X. The feature allows Apple to remove fingerprint recognition from the smartphone and subsequently introduce a display panel that requires minimum bezels.

Additionally, Apple’s neat internal design for the iPhone X’s bottom ensured that the device didn’t feature a very large chin either – an outcome the company’s having a tough time replicating on the 6.1″ 2018 iPhone 9 due to its LCD display panel. Speaking of which, now we’ve got another for the 2018 iPhone lineup’s OLED display panels. Take a look below to find out more.

The AMOLED Panels For The 5.8″ iPhone X(s) And 6.5″ iPhone X(s) Plus Will Be More Durable Than Samsung’s Displays For The Galaxy Lineup

Given the drought of iPhone related leaks this season, we’re down to analyst reports to form a picture of what to expect from Apple’s upcoming smartphone lineup. The Cupertino tech giant is expected to launch three smartphones this year – one with a 6.1″ LCD panel and two with 5.8″ and 6.5″ screens.

Additionally, Apple is also expected to finally divide the iPhone lineup for good. Ever since Steve Jobs took over the reins in 1997, the company focused itself on manufacturing two broad categories of devices – consumer and professional. While this approach was consistently demonstrated prior to the iPhone, the smartphone’s launch and the subsequent iPad releases muddled things up.

Apple brought itself back to the old approach by releasing the iPad Pro and now the company might follow through on the iPhone, with the massive 6.5″ iPhone X(s) Plus (tentatively dubbed). Now we’ve got a whisper for the AMOLED panels that the company will use on this year’s smartphone lineup.

Tipster Believes That AMOLED Panels For The 6.5″ 2018 iPhone X(s) Plus And 5.8″ iPhone X(s) Will Beat Those Found On Samsung’s Gadgets

With the iPhone X, Apple set new records in several aspects of a smartphone display’s performance. The iPhone X’s OLED panel had the best color accuracy for any display, with little reflectance and viewing angle change color distortion. Now, tipster Ice_Universe believes that Apple will follow this trend with the 2018 iPhone lineup’s display panels, beating what Samsung offers with the Note 9 and the Galaxy S9 lineup.

While the iPhone X features a fantastic display, Samsung truly raised the bar with the Note 9. The Korean tech giant’s display for the gadget takes on the iPhone X’s panel directly – and beats it. We’ve summarized the results (courtesy of the fantastic folks over at DisplayMate) below:

The Galaxy Note 9 and iPhone X are neck to neck in some critical factors used to map out display quality. Taking a look at the numbers above, Apple will definitely compete with Samsung in areas such as color accuracy and ambient light contrast, where the Korean tech giant has gained the upper hand.

The Apple-Samsung partnership for OLED manufacturing has also positively impacted the Korean tech giant as it’s visible in the results above. With the 2018 iPhone lineup, particularly the 6.5″ iPhone X(s) Plus, Apple will take the ball to Samsung’s court (especially if rumors of Apple Pencil support for the gadget bear fruit). The iPhone X(s) Plus will catapult the lineup for professional users – a fact Samsung’s foreseen with the Galaxy Note 9, which has several features to target this segment.
