Apple finally introduced the industry-consistent IP68 water and dust-resistance for premium devices when it announced the iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max, with the iPhone XR getting the IP67 rating. Even though the manufacturer reiterates that should you accidentally damage your devices because water entered and wrecked havoc with the innards, this damage will not be covered under warranty.
Still, it is nice to know that you will have a layer of protection over your expensive devices should you accidentally drop them in water. However, with the upcoming series, which will land in 2019, Apple does not appear to want to make any changes to this level of protection.

2019 Lineup to Retain IP68 Water-Resistance – Low-Cost iPhone Might Retain IP67 Rating if iPhone XR Ends up Being Successful
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 2019 lineup is expected to retain the same level of water-resistance, which is IP68. Apple is not expected to infuse any additional layers of protection most likely because it will be a costly process and since the competition has not applied any such measures, we don’t believe the tech giant will either.
After IP68, comes the IP69K rating, which protects devices from dust and water being sprayed directly in the form of a jet stream. However, machines that actually use that form of protection feature a bulky aesthetic and a rugged appearance. While the Galaxy S8 Active is not an example of a smartphone that features the IP69K rating, it bears that rugged look and we all know that Apple will refrain from using that kind of a design on a lineup that generates the most revenue for the company.
Other specifications that we know of is the fact that an iPhone model sporting a triple-camera lens at the back will be introduced and we can guess that it will give the device access to 3x optical zoom or even advanced AR features. Apple is also expected to reduce the size of the notch, giving users access to more screen real estate.
