After much speculation and leaks for the device, the OnePlus 6T finally became official earlier this week. The smartphone’s consistent presence on official and unofficial channels ensured that dedicated users were well aware of the majority of its features before the October 30th. 1) A Larger Display, And A Higher Screen To Body Ratio Than The OnePlus 6:
The OnePlus 6T features a brand new display, that’s quite similar to the one present on the Oppo Realme 2 Pro. OnePlus’ parent company, BBK electronic also owns Oppo which is a Chinese company that concentrates its sales efforts in Asian markets. The OnePlus 6T has a 6.4″ display panel. This panel has a 1080×2340 display, with 401ppi.

The smartphone’s display is slightly narrower and taller than its predecessor, the OnePlus 6’s display. Additionally, OnePlus 6T’s screen-to-body ratio is larger than the OnePlus 6’s. The former has a ratio of 85.6%, while the latter of 83.8%. OnePlus has also switched to a teardrop-shaped notch for its latest smartphone. Due to this change, the OnePlus 6T’s notch will be less cumbersome to users than the one present on its predecessor.
2) A 3700mAh Battery:
Samsung made quite a fuss about a bigger battery on its latest flagship, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. A 4,000mAh power pack was built not only inside the Note 9 but also deep within Samsung’s marketing campaign. Feeling the heat, the Korean tech giant tried its level best to portray the Galaxy Note 9 as a radical upgrade.

Now, OnePlus (feeling the heat from Xiaomi’s Pocophone 1?) has increased battery capacity on the OnePlus 6T by a respectable 400mAh when compared to the Oneplus 6. Such an increase is absent on the OnePlus 5T, which has the same battery capacity as the OnePlus 5. The OnePlus 6T has a 3700mAh battery which will last around 29 hours of talk time according to tests conducted by Gsmarena.
3) Louder And Differently Tuned Speakers:
The OnePlus 6T does not feature 3.5mm earphone jack, and with this change, we’re also witnessing a slight difference in speaker performance. The OnePlus 6T focuses on ringtones, as OnePlus has increased decibels emitted by the speaker when it’s ringing. Noise emitted also increases by 0.4%, but there are no major upgrades overall in this category.
4) Button-free Fingerprint Recognition:
A major upgrade on the OnePlus 6T is a brand new fingerprint sensor. OnePlus has removed a physical sensor from its smartphone lineup, most likely by giving in to market pressures. Smartphone giants Apple and Samsung have delayed this change on their high-end smartphones, and OnePlus is eager to move into this space.
The OnePlus 6T features a fingerprint sensor that’s located at least under the device’s front cover glass. We’ll update you accordingly when technical details for this feature become available.
5) A More Durable Display:
The OnePlus 6 features Corning’s Gorilla 6 for its display, which is a good move by the company. OnePlus paid special emphasis on this upgrade onstage – and for good measure. Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9 does not feature Corning’s latest Gorilla glass, and it’s an unofficial truth that the iPhone XS lineup does feature the panel. However, we’ll vouch for Corning Gorilla Glass 6’s durability only after independent testing.
