During their announcement, the iPhone X, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 8 became the first consumer-based smartphones to provide support for 4K video recording at 60 frames per second. This provided a massive leap when it came to video recording on a handset and naturally, to market the heavy-duty camera on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, Samsung had to incorporate this feature too. Unfortunately, while both these flagships do provide support for 4K video recording, they falter in a way that you will find out very soon.

Even though Galaxy S9 boasts a ‘reimagined’ camera and can record 4K video at 60 frames per second, it can only do so for five minutes at max.
For longer videos, the framerate will have to be reduced to 30FPS. This restriction is often found on many of the high-end Android smartphones because the device simply heats up, forcing it to choose a less taxing video recording setting. This is where the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X shine as all three of them can all shoot a 4K video at 60FPS for as long as you want. You do get a warning that the format will fill up the storage really fast, but lets you proceed anyway.
However, Samsung doesn’t limit 4K recording at 30FPS to five minutes, which is not something to be proud of, but it is still present there. Hopefully, a software update might be able to increase the time that users will be able to use to record 4K at 60 frames per second.
