Rumor: Apple’s AirPower Charging Mat to Release in ‘Late March,’ According to DigiTimes

With all the products Apple has launched so far, there is still one that continues to elude the company’s vast lineup; the AirPower. After continues delays, a new report alleges that the company’s AirPower wireless charging mat would be arriving soon. Previously, a leaked picture had shown a trio of Apple products allegedly being topped on the mat. Prior to that, it was also reported that Apple has trademarked the product in the U.S, suggesting that the unveiling of the product is upon us.

The AirPower Wireless Charging Mat Would Reportedly Be Able to Top up Three Apple Products At The Same Time

According to Apple’s supply chain insiders via DigiTimes, IC components manufacturer Lite-On Semiconductor is about to commence mass shipments of its glass passivated package or GPP bridge rectifiers to Apple which will be used by the company for the AirPower accessory. Apparently, the company’s wireless charger would be here by the end of March and it would be used for simultaneously charging iPhones, AirPods, and the Apple Watch. Needless to say, Lite-On Semiconductor would also be a beneficiary, with the company expecting its Q2 revenues to witness double-digit growth.

Previously, famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had said that the AirPower will be released in the first half of this year. Other reports had alleged that the production of the AirPower has been given a green signal by Apple. If the latest report is to be believed, we should see Apple announce its wireless charging mat within this week, as there aren’t many days left to go before the end of this month.

Apple fans would certainly welcome the idea of an Apple-branded wireless charger as various Apple products, including the AirPods 2, 2018 iPhone series, and Apple Watch can be topped up wirelessly. The AirPower was announced way back in 2017 when Apple unveiled the iPhone X but later on, it was rumored that the technology giant ran into some technical difficulties which are proving to be a roadblock for materializing a commercial product.

More specifically, it was reported that the company was unable to make a product that can charge three devices at the same time. It sure seems like those problems have been taken care of, and now the company just has to decide when it will release its long-awaited wireless charger.
