Lenovo Z5 Dual Camera Samples Added – Will Feature AI Capabilities but Might Not Feature Dedicated NPU Like the P20 Pro

We have seen a lot of Lenovo Z5 teasers so far and now Chang Cheng, the company’s VP has shared some official camera shots on the company’s Weibo page. The samples bear the watermark ‘Lenovo Z5 AI Dual Camera’, which means apart from having a dual camera setup on the back, the phone will employ AI (Artificial Intelligence) to produce better images.

Lenovo Z5 Camera Samples Reveal Software Processing Magic Done on Images, Most Likely Due to AI Presence

Chang Cheng shared two camera shots from the Lenovo Z5, which got noticed by AndroidHeadlines first. Both the pictures were taken in the dusk which shows the camera’s capability to perform well in low-light conditions.

Both the pictures look great and detailed but they appear to have some software processing done of them to make them appear more attractive. This might be the work of an AI element in the software, but we do not believe that the phone itself will have a dedicated NPU like the one present in the Kirin 970.

It will be interesting to see how the handset’s optics are able to perform in a different set of lighting conditions but this is what we have for you at the moment. Lenovo has been building up hype around the upcoming Z5 for quite some time. It will be a bezel-less smartphone with a screen-to-body ratio of 95 percent, as reported by the company’s VP on the Chinese social networking website Weibo.

Currently, no phone in the market can boast such a design but the Vivo APEX is certainly the closest we’ve seen to date. Chang Cheng also shared two renders and a sketch of Z5 that shows off its design. The phone has also been teased of having a total of 4TB of storage, which is way more than we’re used to seeing on smartphones.

The largest we’ve ever come across is the internal memory count on the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design, which is 512GB. Even though Lenovo has not marketed the Z5 as a high-end smartphone yet, we have every reason to believe that it is, and when the phone is unveiled next month, we’ll know for sure.
