ROCCAT Shows Off New Vulcan Mechanical Keyboard, Uses Titan Switch and AIMO lighting

ROCCAT, a leader in PC peripherals and a big supporter of e-Sports for the past few years has displayed a new keyboard in its lineup. The Vulcan Mechanical Keyboard, it features their own self developed Titan switch Tactile which they said offers the most swift and responsive keyboard in ROCCAT’s lineup. The Vulcan will be sold in three varieties, the Vulcan 120 AIMO, Vulcan 100 AIMO and the Vulcan 80 each with a different feature set.

All three keyboards are full sized, but the Vulcan 120 seems to be the only one with a wrist rest and is magnetically attached. The 120 and 100 feature per key RGB lighting as well as full media keys and a volume knob. The Vulcan 80 has per key LED lighting which is limited to blue, and lacks a media keys.

Their custom designed and developed Titan Switch is designed with a transparent housing for their RGB lighting ecosystem “AIMO” and lets you see the internals quiet well. ROCCAT says the in-house development allowed them to tweak performance as much as needed and they have ‘Debounced’ the switch which reduces mechanical chattering during actuation due to their ‘high quality materials and components’. This should allow keystrokes to be recognized and input 20% faster than competing keyboards. The keys have a travel distance of 3.6 mm with a 1.8 mm actuation point, very similar to what you would see in Cherry MX brown mechanical switches.

The Keyboard’s top plate uses reinforced anodized aluminum which is supposed to strengthen the Vulcan structurally with ROCCAT saying it “strengthens structural integrity and shields it from wear and tear.” The keycaps have spacing typical to what we see out of a full-size keyboard but they have been shortened in height for cleaning purposes as well as showing off the hardware and RGB lighting underneath.

The Vulcan Keyboards will be available in Q3 of this year and pricing for the Vulcan 120 AIMO, Vulcan 100 AIMO and Vulcan 80 is $159.99, $149.99 and $129.99 respectively.
