AMD has launched their latest graphics card, the Radeon RX 560 XT. in China which makes it seem like they still aren’t done with the Polaris lineup. The graphics card may bear the Radeon RX 560 XT name but has specifications that match the Radeon RX 470D from two years ago which makes this newcomer a really interesting part but also makes the already crowded Polaris lineup a lot more confusing.

As always, the Asian Pacific market is the testing ground for unusual and weird graphics cards. The Polaris cards saw various releases in Chinese markets which were unavailable to consumers living in the West. The same seems to be happening with the newly launched Radeon RX 560 XT, which is, for now, kept exclusive to the Eastern markets.

Now if we talk specifications of this part, you can tell that the Radeon RX 560 XT is clearly not based on the Polaris 11/21 GPU as it comes with 1792 stream processors. This is only possible on the high end Polaris 10/20/22 GPUs. The card, is based on the newer Polaris 22 GPU would be featuring a 12 nm process design but the strategy that AMD is following leads me to believe this is actually based on the 14nm revision of the Polaris architecture and not the newer one like the Radeon RX 590. I’ll talk about the strategy in a bit.
Coming to the specs again, we have 1792 stream processors, 112 Texture Units and 32 ROPs. The card is supplemented with 4 GB of GDDR5 VRAM that runs across a 256-bit bus interface at 6600 MHz effective clock speed. This delivers a bandwidth of 211.2 GB/s. The card is clocked at 973 MHz base frequency and 1073 MHz Boost clocks. The card is clocked lower than every other RX 500 card and a TDP of 150W. This shows that AMD would still be having this card priced to the budget tier segment while offering performance in between the RX 560 and RX 570.

The pricing of this card may full under $150 US since the RX 570 is already available for that much and has better performance. Now the reason this card exists and why AMD launched it so late if we are hearing rumors about a Navi launch this summer. The reason is simple, AMD their partners are trying to clear inventory to make room for the upcoming launch. Hence, I think this card would be heavily promoted in the Chinese markets, especially E-cafe’s where this card can become very popular.
At the same time, if the Radeon RX 560 XT does arrive in the Western market, it could be very confusing for consumers as now we have at least four variants of the RX 560 graphics card. These include the Radeon RX 560, the Radeon RX 560X, the Radeon RX 560 D, the Radeon RX 560 (896 SP) and the Radeon RX 560 XT.
