If there’s one thing that’s sure to be bothering Tim Cook, Apple’s executives and its fans, it’s the company’s excessive reliance on the iPhone to keep revenues up. Apple has realized this, which is why in 2018 we saw the iPad steal some of the spotlight away from the iPhone. While Apple continued to put the iPhone at the forefront of its product lineup, it also launched three different variants of the iPad. Now, if we believe current rumors, the company might launch at least two different generational upgrades of the tablet this year. Take a look below for more details.
Supply Chain Sources Believe That Apple Will Launch The iPad 7 Later This Year; Tablet Will Feature A 10″ Display
Apple’s iPad 6 which came last year was the company’s response to Google. Apple offers the tablet at discounted prices for the educational sector, and it ensures that the iPad has sufficient processing power to meet this segment’s needs. The iPad 6 is a clear demonstrator of how Apple’s self-enforced image of a ‘premium, high-end’ electronics manufacturer is taking a beating from shareholder expectations.

Now we’ve got a supply chain report from China that claims to have knowledge about Apple’s plans for a new iPad this year. We’ve already seen several sources claim that the company will launch an iPad Mini 5 later this year – and upgrade the Mini lineup after four years. Today’s report, on the other hand, provides details for an iPad 7.
According to the report, the iPad 7 will retain the 3.5mm earphone jack and the Touch ID sensor. Looks like Apple hasn’t brought down its True Depth camera setup’s cost down enough to use the sensor on modestly priced devices. Additionallynally, given the usage scenarios that the iPad 7 is likely to encounter, equipping the tablet with fingerprint, instead of facial recognition makes more sense too.
As for the alleged tablet’s screen size, it’s uncertain whether it will retain the 9.7″ diagonal or increase it to 10″. The sources are unable to provide any details for the tablet’s processor, or for its camera/storage/RAM configurations. Therefore, we’d advise you to take this report lightly until other sources corroborate today’s information and add more details. Thoughts?
