Crackdown 3, the third installment in the open world franchise which began on Xbox 360, may be close to release despite the current lack of an official release date.
That’s what the rating posted a couple days ago by the Brazilian board suggests. It’s not the first time that the Brazilian classification board “leaks” games, either. For the record, the game was rated “not recommended for children under sixteen”.

As for the actual release date, Phil Spencer recently said that the team has locked onto a date and news would be available soon. It’s possible Microsoft could use the venue of E3 2018 to drop the release date or even the game itself right afterward, a practice that’s grown in popularity over the past years. It’s also worth reminding that three months ago Amazon Spain listed (and still lists) Crackdown 3 as launching on June 29th; they also listed State of Decay 2 as launching on May 25th, which turned out to be very close (that game has been now confirmed to debut on May 22nd).
As you probably recall, Crackdown 3 has been delayed several times. It was originally due to launch in 2016; it was then showcased at E3 2017 (with mixed reception) for a scheduled November 7th, 2017 release date (the same day Xbox One X launched). However, during Gamescom 2017 Microsoft announced another delay all the way to Spring 2018, possibly as a response to all the feedback they had received at E3.
Hopefully, the studios working on the game (Sumo Digital for the single-player campaign, Ruffian Games and Reagent Games for the cloud-powered multiplayer mode) have been able to apply a great deal of polish to Crackdown 3 in these last few months. Regardless, Crackdown 3 will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass for all subscribers.
