Cyberpunk 2077 Playtime Won’t Be “Artificially” Extended; Content Has To Be Meaningful To Story-Driven Experience

More often than not, open-world games include content that extends playtime, but not in a significant way. According to a member of the Cyberpunk 2077 development team, this won’t be happening.

Speaking in a fresh interview with GamingBolt, Cyberpunk 2077 level designer Miles Toast has been asked about emergent gameplay mechanics. While Toast said that it’s not early to say, he also added that content is getting added to the game only in a way that feels organic to the experience. Generally, the team is trying to not extend playtime artificially, and added content has to add to the experience in a meaningful way.

If it makes sense, and if we could pull it off in a way that feels organic and meets our quality standards, then maybe“But we’re certainly not going to be artificially extending the playtime by pushing more content into the game. If it can add to our story-driven experience in a meaningful way, we’re not closed off to anything. Personally, I think our strength lies in creating handcrafted experiences.
