Let’s start off with the design. The OnePlus 6T features a similar glass back as its predecessor did. The smartphone is also available in the lineup’s two standard colors which are Midnight and Mirror Black.
The OnePlus 6T measures 157.5 x 74.9 x 8.2mm, making it slightly slimmer, but thicker than the iPhone XS Max. It’s shorter than the Pixel 3 XL, but smaller overall than the Samsung Galaxy S9++.

The OnePlus 6T has an aluminum frame, as opposed to the iPhone XS Max’s stainless steel frame. All three devices have exteriors that are manufactured primarily out of glass, but the Pixel 3 XL and Galaxy S9+ have fingerprint sensors placed on their back.
The iPhone XS Max and the OnePlus 6T feature no such sensor, with the former utilizing 3D facial recognition and the latter virtual fingerprint recognition for unlocking. However, out of all the smartphones, only the Samsung Galaxy S9+ has a 3.5mm earphone jack.
Bottom firing speakers aren’t a strong feature of the OnePlus 6T, with the other gadgets having better options. Finally, the smartphone is not IP certified (water resistance) while the iPhone XS Max, Google Pixel 3 XL and Samsung Galaxy S9+ are.
OnePlus 6T Vs iPhone XS Max Vs Galaxy S9+ Vs Pixel 3 XL – The Performance
All three Android gadgets feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 manufactured on TSMC’s 10nm node. The Pixel 3 XL comes with 4GB of RAM and the S9+ features 6GB of temporary storage. The OnePlus 6T is available in two variants of 6GB and 8GB RAM.
The iPhone XS Max has a clear advantage here as Apple’s smartphone is running on the A12 Bionic. This processor is manufactured on TSMC’s 7nm process and comes with the performance and power efficiency gains that correspond to this node decrease.
The Apple A12 Bionic features six cores. Two of these (Vortex) are high-power and four of these (Tempest) are low-power cores. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 features four low power Kryo Silver and four high power Kryo Gold cores. OnePlus’ OnePlus 6T has the largest battery out of the devices under comparison today. It features a 3700mAh power pack that’s bigger than the iPhone’s 3170mAh battery. All the gadgets in today’s comparison except for the OnePlus 6T feature wireless charging.
The Galaxy S9+ and the Pixel 3 XL come with 3500mAh and 3430mAh batteries, but don’t be fooled by the S9+ on-paper specifications. The gadget is known for its battery problems, especially while running at high temperatures. Finally, these are the storage and MicroSD support details for the smartphones.
OnePlus 6T Vs iPhone XS Max Vs Galaxy S9+ Vs Pixel 3 XL – The Cameras
Moving towards the rear cameras, only the Google Pixel 3 XL has a single rear camera. However, the device has several rear camera perks, courtesy of Google camera software. The Pixel 3 XL features a dedicated mode for nighttime photography that displays fantastic results. The OnePlus 6T also features a similar mode dubbed as ‘Nightscape’. Both these features use HDR, and OnePlus claims that the OnePlus 6T will take 2 seconds per photograph with the feature.
Additionally, out of all the devices, only the Samsung Galaxy S9+ comes with a variable aperture rear camera setup. This allows the S9+ to adjust the amount of light the sensor lets in physically. The variable aperture setup also enables the smartphone to keep down ISO in low light scenarios, which in turn makes for less grainy images.
The Pixel 3 XL is the only smartphone out of the four that has a dual front camera setup. So if you’re a selfie fan, this is a strong incentive to purchase the device.
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ is the only device on our list capable of shooting video in super slow motion at 960fps. While Samsung’s smartphone fails to deliver a solid all round performance, it’s got strengths in the camera segment.
OnePlus 6T Vs iPhone XS Max Vs Galaxy S9+ Vs Pixel 3 XL – The Price
