Devil May Cry 5 Performance Looks Solid In New Base PS4 Gameplay Footage

Plenty of new Devil May Cry 5 gameplay footage emerged online last week during Gamescom 2018, showcasing the game running onPlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, but we had yet to see the game running on base PlayStation 4. A new video that has emerged online recently, however, finally manages to fix this lack.

The new footage, shared online by Frame Advantage, shows the full Devil May Cry 5 Gamescom 2018 demo played on base PlayStation 4. While the game doesn’t look as good as it does on PlayStation 4 Pro, it does run nicely, with what seems like a stable 60 FPS framerate.

Our own Chris had the chance to try out Devil May Cry 5 during Gamescom 2018 last week, noting how the game is a return to form for the series, with great gameplay and presentation.

The biggest takeaway from the combat is that it’s just as fast-paced, engaging and a great spectacle as it has ever been. It’s only made all that more impressive by the simply astounding aesthetics within the game. Using the REngine, Devil May Cry 5 looks fantastic, every demon showing little details like goo dripping from them, horrible pulsating veins and more.

In addition to the visuals, the music is also fun and engaging. It ramps up in intensity depending on your actions in battle, with your increased rank also bringing in an increase in the audio. It’s a fun system that helps you keep track of your combat score. None of this should come as a huge surprise to anybody familiar to the series though. Adding to the great music is strong audio from the characters, monsters and the effects of battle. Everything just has that bit more weight to it.

Of course, one level isn’t exactly a great judge of a full title. From what I have seen, this is a great return to the Devil May Cry franchise. It looks, sounds and plays great.

Devil May Cry 5 launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 8th.
