Select PS4 owners will finally get to test out Dreams tomorrow. Media Molecule’s latest creative sandbox was announced back in 2013, and a beta was originally set to be released in 2016, but the game and beta have suffered through multiple delays. Thankfully, it seems this dream is finally becoming a reality.
The Dreams closed beta kicks off tomorrow (December 19) and will, initially, only be available to those who have signed up for the Media Molecule newsletter. Sorry, you can’t get access by signing up at the last second – the invites have already gone out. Those who miss out on this early closed beta can get in on the public beta, which launches on January 8 (sign-ups begin January 4). Both the closed and public beta expire on January 21. The Dreams beta is available in the US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia.

The beta weighs in a 4GB and doesn’t require PlayStation Plus to access online features. The main purpose of the beta is to show off the game’s creation tools – PSVR support and some campaign content will be missing. The folks at Media Molecule just demoed a nice chunk of Dreams beta gameplay – you can check out archived version of the livestream, below.

Want to know more about Dreams? Wccftech’s Dave Aubrey recently got to go hands-on with some experiences created in the game…
“What was most impressive about Dreams was that each of the demos I played presented a different kind of game that could be created, and each of them was shockingly detailed and deep. […] After playing just a small bit of what Dreams has to offer, I’m convinced. Even if I can’t create anything interesting, I’m willing to buy it just to download and play the creations of others. On top of that, of course, the full game will come out next year with a story campaign handcrafted by Media Molecule.”
Dreams drifts onto PS4 sometime in 2019.
