The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is going to be unveiled in a few weeks but that does not mean the rumors will stop flowing. Sometimes, all it takes is an interesting leak to come forth and gives us a whole new perspective on what to expect from the smartphone. This time, it is reportedly the benchmarking results of the Exynos 9820, which is Samsung’s in-house SoC for flagship smartphones. It has apparently beaten the Apple’s A11 Bionic in the latest benchmarking tests, which just goes to how far Samsung might have come in the custom silicon production race.
Exynos 9820 Scores 12,000+ Points in Geekbench’s Multi-Core Test Results, Effortlessly Beats the iPhone X but Surprisingly, Is Found in the Galaxy Note 9
A recently leaked benchmark of the retail unit has leaked on the internet. It scored very well, marking impressive results and giving readers a lot of hope when it comes to the performance of the Galaxy Note 9. The model number is SM-N960X, which is presumably the unlocked variant that Samsung sells on its online store in the U.S., which would explain why the device is armed with an Exynos 9820. The unit scored 12,246 points in the multi-core tests and clocked 40,89 points in the single-core test.

Currently, the Exynos 9810-powered Galaxy S9 Plus is the best performer in the Android category, with the Galaxy Note 9 having beaten the phablet comprehensively with scores that are comparable to the best iPhone performance scores (given below). However, it should be noted that the unit that was being used for the benchmark did not feature 6GB of RAM, but 4GB of RAM instead. This means that you guys should take this information with a pinch of salt for now.
However, we are hoping that the leak is credible, even if the unit test was an engineering sample or a prototype. Samsung is probably test-driving its new 7nm chipset and we have to say that whatever we can see right, we’re pleased with the results. However, do not forget that Apple will be launching the A12 chipset that is going to be found in the upcoming 2018 iPhone lineup.
