In terms of charging capabilities, latest from Macotakara cites that fast charging on the 2018 iPhone models will only be available from certified or official chargers. You Will Require An Official USB-C Charger To Fast Charge 2018 iPhone
We have been previously hearing reports that this year’s iPhone models will ship with a USB-C cable along with an 18W fast charger. Even though this is good news for all Apple fans, there is also news that you will not be able to fast charge your 2018 iPhone from third-party chargers. This means that fast charging on the forthcoming iPhones will be possible from only certified or official chargers from the company.

If you’re the kind of person who uses multiple chargers for home or office then this might be a problem for you. According to a report published last week, the Apple 18W charger supply constraints means that they will not be available for purchase separately for a certain span of time after the new iPhones have been launched. Today’s report suggests that purchasing third-party fast chargers would not solve the problem and that fast charging will only be available from certified chargers.
The report further suggests that even if the third-party charger offers 18W of power, the 2018 iPhone models will limit it to just 2.5W. This is unless the charger and the cable conform to a USB-C Authentication standard. However, it does not mean that you will only need 18W chargers from Apple, currently, there are over 50 companies that support the standard. If you were hoping to purchase a random one or make use of an existing one, it will not deliver fast charging capabilities.
