Ubisoft’s resilient multiplayer hack ‘n’ slash For Honor is marching forth with 12 months of new content. Year 3 goes by the name “Year of the Harbinger” and features four seasons, each of which will include one new Hero and a seasonal event. Season 1, entitled Vortiger, will include a new Knight Hero, and the following seasons will add Samurai, Viking, and Wu Lin fighters to the mix. As in the past, you can buy the new Heroes and other Year 3 content with Steel, which can be earned in-game or purchased with real-world money. Alternatively, you can purchase the Year 3 Pass, which gets you one-week early access to new content and frees you from having to worry about Steel. The Year 3 Pass, which will set you back $30, is already available for pre-purchase.
For Honor struggled with server problems, manipulative microtransactions, and other issues following launch, but Ubisoft stuck by the game, eventually turning things around. According to the publisher, the game has surpassed the 15 million player mark. Ubisoft recently released the Marching Fire expansion, which added a new faction, the Chinese Wu Lin. Wccftech’s Dave Aubrey found the expansion to be a solid update for established fans, but perhaps not a great stepping-on point for newcomers…
“Marching Fire is For Honor’s biggest update yet, and it’s a doozy. Arcade mode, Breach and the new characters all add loads of content For Honor fans should enjoy, but if you’re out of the loop with the game, this won’t do much to persuade you to start playing.”
