Google Pixel 3 And Pixel 3 XL’s Night Sight Mode Brightens Up Pictures Significantly, But It Just Might Be Too Much

The good folks over at XDA Developers have tinkered around with the Pixel 3/33 XL’s Night Sight Mode, and have demonstrated its abilities in some latest camera samples. They’ve carried out a bit of trickery on Google’s latest version of the Camera app and subsequently managed to enable Night Sight Mode on the Pixel 3 XL.
The pictures above were taken using the Camera app’s Night Sight mode on the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL and Pixel 2 XL. The results, as you can see above, do not need captions to differentiate. The difference between photographs taken with standard and Night Sight settings is stark. In some instances, it almost appears as if the two photographs were taken during different times of the day.
Additionally, it also appears that the difference between photographs within a pair is more due to poor night time photography without the Night Sight mode rather than major additions made by this setting. It’s also relevant to note at this point that these photographs are taken using an unofficial version of Night Sight. Google’s yet to release its fine-tuned version, so final results may vary.
