Hitman: Sniper Assassin Leaked by Korean and Aussie Rating Boards, Coming to PC, XB1, PS4

2018 could prove to be another busy, bloody year for Agent 47. Hitman: Definitive Edition is coming our way in May courtesy of publisher Warner Bros. Interactive, and now it seems a new entry in the franchise has leaked. Both the Korean and Australian classification boards have listed a game titled Hitman: Sniper Assassin for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

Hitman developer IO Interactive has yet to announce Hitman: Sniper Assassin, but these types of rating board slip ups almost always end up being the real deal. Not a lot of information to be gained from the ratings, other than that the game will contain strong violence (duh) and is being developed and published by series creators IO Interactive. That said, the title Hitman: Sniper Assassin does hint the game might be a sequel or enhanced console port of the well-received 2015 mobile game Hitman: Sniper. In other words, this probably isn’t the next major triple-a entry in the series, but you never know!

It was revealed back in November of last year that IO Interactive is working on two new Hitman games. Earlier, IO also announced they were “making great progress” on a follow-up to the 2016 game. So, unless both the Korean and Aussie rating boards screwed up, it looks like we have both a full sequel and a sniper-themed spinoff to look forward to.

Last year, Square Enix sent shockwaves through the industry by announcing plans to offload developer IO Interactive and the Hitman franchise. Ultimately, a buyer wasn’t found, with IO instead retaining rights to the Hitman series as an independent developer. Understandably, there were concerns about Hitman’s future, but it seems the series is on solid ground.

Hitman: Definitive Edition sneaks onto Xbox One and PS4 on May 18. Expect more information about the future of the franchise as we near E3.
