With a little over a month left to go before the launch of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, interest is building up, fed by rumours that keep coming in. Some new leaked pictures from China have now provided us with a glimpse of the front panels of the upcoming phones.
Mate 20 Pro Apparently Sports a Wider Notch to Accommodate the 3d Facial Recognition Hardware
The leaked front panels indicate that the two phones will sport different designs, with the standard model gunning for maximum screen real estate thanks to a small waterdrop notch and a flatter design, while the bigger model will go for a largeriPhone X inspired notch. The pictures are in line with previous rumours that alleged that the Mate 20 will have the same design language as the OPPO R17 and R17 Pro.

The notch houses the selfie shooter and there is a smaller cut-out at the top where the earpiece grill can be seen. The bottom bezels of the phone also appear to be a little thicker than the side bezels. Coming to the Mate 20 Pro, the phone has curved edges like Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and also has a larger notch, presumably to house a 3D facial scanner. Like the Mate 20, the Mate 20 Pro model also has a small chin.
Even though no specifications have been revealed so far, both the Mate 20 series flagship phones are expected to be powered by Huawei’s latest and the world’s first 7nm FinFET chip, the Kirin 980, that was unveiled during the IFA 2018 trade show a few days back. The two devices are also expected to come with Android 9 Pie right off the bat with Huawei’s new EMUI 9 skin on top.
Both of these devices are also expected to feature a triple-camera system on the back but in a squarish orientation rather than the vertical one present on the P20 Pro. Additionally, the Mate 20 Pro might also flaunt an in-display fingerprint sensor.
