Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro to Feature the Codename Hima and Laya – Both Flagships Reportedly Getting a Triple-Camera at the Back

The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are codenamed ‘Hima’ and ‘Laya’, respectively. Both of these handsets will feature a triple-camera setup with Leica branding as well. The Mate 20 Pro is expected to be similar to the P20 Pro in terms of camera specifications. This means that it will have a 40MP main camera, a 20MP monochrome sensor, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Both of these smartphones will be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 980, which will be revealed at the IFA 2018 trade show set to take place in Germany later this month. The phones will have a minimum of 6GB of RAM. Additionally, recent reports have stated that the chipset will have clock speeds of up to 2.80GHz and it will be made on the 7nm FinFET process, which means we can expect improved battery life and increase performance.

The battery capacity of the Mate 20 is expected to be a 4,200mAh cell and both handsets will presumably come with new 40W fast chargers. The phones will run Android 9.0 P with EMUI 9.0 on top and of course, how can we forget getting support for GPU Turbo technology. The Mate 20 series smartphones are expected to start retailing by the end of October or latest by the beginning of November.
