Huawei has announced its ultra-hyped Mate 20X at a London event. The Huawei Mate 20X is a behemoth of a smartphone which is oriented towards mobile gamers. the device boasts a bigger 7.21-inch OLED display which comes with an optional stylus. The Huawei Mate 20X is a beast in the specification department, featuring the company’s latest Kirin 980 chipset and also brings the triple lens camera set up from the Mate 20 Pro. In addition to this, the device also brags dual speakers for an immersive media consumption experience and gaming as well. The display comes with a resolution of 2244 x 1080, same as the company’s Mate 20.

Speaking of design, the Huawei Mate 20X features a waterdrop notch approach, giving room to the screen to stretch out to all four corners of the display. Since the display is quite large, the inclusion of an optional stylus makes sense. In addition to this, the move also opens new opportunities for the company to take advantage of. The optional stylus also stacks the device in direct competition with the Galaxy Note 9.

The rest of the device is pretty similar to the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro in terms of design. With a triple lens camera at the back housed in a square space along with the flash is definitely new. The company is also releasing a gamepad extension for the Huawei Mate 20X, so that’s something to be excited for as well.

The gamepad will feature an analog stick and a D-pad which will be clipped on the left-hand-side of the device. By the look of it, it seems Huawei is targetting the Nintendo Switch with a bigger display and a bigger battery.

Since the device is oriented towards media consumption and gaming, it boasts a massive 5,000mAh battery capacity along with the new graphene-based cooling system. The cooling system is new in the smartphone industry and will deal with thermal throttling of the device when needed.

The Huawei Mate 20X is set for October 26 in Europe and will cost around $1040 USD for the 6GB RAM variant coupled with 128GB storage. The color options available are Phantom Silver and Midnight Blue.
