Huawei is all set to unveil the P20 lineup next week. Part of that highlight will have to do with the triple-camera sensor on the P20 Pro, with the primary shooter being a 40MP sensor. Unfortunately, we might not get to see the 40MP camera on the P20, but that does not count it out as being a terrific flagship.
Huawei P20 Will Still Come With a 20MP Camera That Will Support Lossless Zoom
The Huawei P20 will retail at 679 Euros ($839 USD) and it is not going to be IP67 certified for some reason. The 5.8-inch LCD display will feature a resolution of 2,240 x 1,080 pixels and it will be sporting that iPhone X style notch but without any integrated laser solution for facial recognition. Instead, the notch will house the front camera, the earpiece, plus the brightness and distance sensors.

However, this does not mean the phone will not offer facial recognition. It will employ the high-resolution front camera to authenticate users if this is the user’s preferred way. However, this will be software based and not as secure as the fingerprint scanner located at the bottom of the front of the phone. Coming to the camera side of things, the Huawei P20 will have a dual-camera instead of a tri-camera that will be present on the P20 Pro.
The 20MP camera is said to be a monochrome lens that also deliver 2x lossless zoom while the 12MP sensor will be the primary sensor. The monochrome sensor will have an aperture size of F/1.6 and the front camera is a 24MP sensor that features ‘Light Fusion’ technology which can brighten the pictures, thanks to the AI capabilities of the processor.
Thankfully, the phone is powered by the Huawei Kirin 970 SoC. The chipset also has a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for AI-related tasks. On the specification side of things, the device will sport 4GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal flash memory with UFS technology. Sadly, the flagship will not have a 3.5mm but it will support being hooked up to a secondary display, which can be used like a regular PC.
The Huawei P20 might be an impressive flagship for 2018, but our eyes are dead set on the P20 Pro since we’re looking forward to seeing what the triple-camera system will be capable of achieving.
