Aside from his work on former Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive, which recently released for PC as well, Murray also worked as designer on the Resistance series and Ratchet Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.
Microsoft announced its new The Initiative game studio during its 2018 E3 press conference. The Santa Monica-based studio is being helmed by former Crystal Dynamics head Darrel Gallagher. Since the announcement of the studio, various big names in the gaming industry announced their move to Microsoft’s new first-party studio, including Red Dead Redemption designer Christian Cantamessa and GTA V developer Tom Shephard.
Back in June of this year, Gallagher talked about his role at The Initiave and shared that his goal at the studio is to make something “groundbreaking”.
“I’ve been given the mandate and the freedom and the support to go do that. It’s almost the best of both worlds, where I get to go build something—I love building things. If you look at my history, it’s building IP, building studios, building teams, building entertainment. I love being able to build. To do that with the support of Xbox and Microsoft behind me, looking for ground-breaking new gaming pillars to work with in the future, it’s a great opportunity.”
