Many iOS 12 beta users have been seeing false update prompts on their iOS devices. The message on the device informs users that a new iOS update is available and that they should update from the iOS 12 beta. However, what’s peculiar is that there are no new updates available. While there is no update available, it is reported that the prompts are appearing due to a bug in iOS 12 beta 11. Let’s dive in to see some more details on the matter.
iOS 12 Beta Users Seeing Wrong Update Prompt – Here’s A Temporary Fix
The prompts appear because of a bug in iOS 12 beta 11 according to 9to5mac’s Gui Rambo. The bug appears as it presumes the expiration date of the update is nearing. The prompts appeared after Apple rolled out its iOS 12 beta 11 updates but they became more frequent since yesterday. The prompt is quite annoying for all iOS 12 beta users and appears everytime you unlock your iPhone or iPad.

While the company has not rolled out a permanent fix for the bug, there is a workaround that you can perform to get rid of it. Possibly, the bug will be fixed in the next beta update. If the issue is persistent on your iOS device, you can perform the process as listed below.
Step 1: the first thing that you need to do is head over to the stock Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and then head over to General then Date Time.

Step 2: In this pane, turn off the Set Automatically option and then change the date to a week before at least.
Do take note that the operation will show the wrong date on your iPhone or iPad. Nonetheless, the workaround does work as it tricks the system into thinking that the expiration date is well ahead. In addition to this, also take note that changing the date will also affect the installed apps.
You can also downgrade to iOS 11.4.1 if you want to be on the safe side. There will be more to the story, so be sure to stay tuned in for more details.
