Speaking to your electronics seem to be all the rage now. You’ve got taking phones, speakers, fridges, toasters and the lot. It was only a matter of time before TVs joined that list, and if you’ve got a new LG smart TV, you may be about to get Assistant there, too. According to their blog post
The Google Assistant will be available on all of LG’s webOS-based AI TVs in the new markets, offering a wide range of features and boosted accessibility in multiple languages. With the Google Assistant built in, LG’s 2018 AI ThinQ-enabled TVs offer a streamlined experience that allows users to manage daily tasks, find answers or control compatible smart home devices. Simply press and hold the mic button and ask for information, such as the weather forecast, a nearby restaurant’s hours, the latest sports scores or to dim the lights without interrupting the viewing experience. Users can also relive their favorite moments by displaying pictures from Google Photos.
The move comes as no surprise, as LG planned on rolling out Google Assistant support to their TVs earlier this year. At that point, we knew nothing about timing or the scope of the rollout. Regions such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom will get it first, and up to five languages will be supported.

In addition to this full Assistant integration, the company is also planning to expand the ability to connect Google Home and Alexa speakers to its AI TVs. Currently available in several English-speaking nations, that functionality will spread to users in France, Germany, Japan, and South Korea before the end of the year.
