LG G7 ThinQ to get AR Stickers Soon

LG’s smartphone division didn’t do very well in terms of, well, pretty much anything. Their flagship devices were lacklustre and couldn’t compete with their competitors had to offer at that time. The LG G6 and V30 are above average devices, at best. Which is why the devices didn’t sell a lot, costing the company a small fortune as a result. The LG G7 ThinQ is the Korean electronics giant’s effort to get back in the game and it’s been working out ok so far. Today, the LG G7 ThinQ becomes the only non-Pixel device to get AR Stickers, according to an announcement by the company. The text might look weird b/c it’s fresh off Google Translate (we all know how that works)

■ LG G7 ThinQ gets more fun with the addition of a new ‘Augmented Reality (AR) Sticker’ mode
□ Insert 3-D AR stickers, such as characters and letters, into pictures or videos to create various situations … First to be installed on LG G7 ThinQ among the global smartphones except Google pixel phone
□ Customer’s voice is also reflected in the software update … Improved overall performance including camera, audio, and UX to make LG G7 ThinQ more convenient and stable

AR Stickers are 3D augmented reality characters that you can place and interact with the world around you. We got to see them in action first with the Pixel 2, and it is yet to be officially supported on any other device. Initially, we got to see Stranger Things, and Star Wars AR stickers, with some Winter Olympic themed material released later.  It’s unclear how many of those sticker packs the LG G7 ThinQ will receive—we’ll know only after the update. The update also brings a few minor enhancements here and there, but its focal point is the AR Stickers. For now, only devices in South Korea will receive it. There was no mention of an international release and it could be likely that it never happens. Only time will tell.
