One of the most persistent known issues affecting Windows 10 1903 (April 2019 Update) has been the Green Screen of Death (GSOD) triggered by the anti-cheat software used by some games. As Microsoft is almost ready for the public release of the upcoming Windows 10 19H1 and we have a potential Release Candidate, the company has now updated that this particular bug has been addressed.
“Many games that use anti-cheat software have released fixes for the issue causing PCs to bugcheck (GSOD),” the company wrote in an update last night (via OnMSFT). The Windows maker added that “the upgrade block that prevents Windows Insiders from updating to the latest build will be removed soon.”

Several Insiders had earlier tweeted that they were unable to update to the latest Insider Preview Build, as many machines running games with anti-cheat software were blocked from making the upgrade.

In response, Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager of the Windows Insider Program, tweeted that the team is working to get the block removed.

It should be noted that LeBlanc says that “most of the impacted games have issued fixes,” which means there still might be some that could trigger bugcheck. However, with upgrade block soon to be lifted, you can check for yourself if any particular game is causing problems for you.
The good news is with this latest update to known issues, there are only two bugs remaining in the upcoming Windows 10 1903: Creative X-Fi sound cards and some Realtek SD card readers not functioning properly. Hopefully these will be addressed soon in any upcoming build or probably in through a cumulative update.
