Microsoft Is Blocking Windows 10 1809 on Some More Machines – Intel Drivers to Blame

It took the Windows maker over a month after the initial release of the latest edition of Windows 10 to figure out the problems and resolve them. The re-release officially started last week and since then reports of more issues keep coming. Microsoft has itself reported several problems with Windows 10 version 1809. Microsoft has today added another problem to the list. The latest issue is with some new Intel display drivers. The problem appears to be due to an Intel driver introduced before the official release of 1809. Microsoft wrote that the chip maker inadvertently released versions of its display driver to OEMs that accidentally turned on unsupported features in Windows. While the release of these drivers happened back in September, it is creating problems for some users who have upgraded to version 1809.

Windows 10 1809 latest bug: affected users no longer getting sound from a monitor/television connected to the PC via HDMI, USB-C or DisplayPort

Microsoft is currently blocking devices with the affected drivers from installing Windows 10 October 2018 Update. Microsoft added that it is working with Intel to “expire these display drivers” and is coordinating with OEMs.

“After updating to Windows 10, version 1809, audio playback from a monitor or television connected to a PC via HDMI, USB-C, or a DisplayPort may not function correctly on devices with these drivers,” the company wrote today.

You can confirm whether you are affected by following these steps before proceeding to install version 1809:
