It displays alerts when it finds a suspicious link and helps users feel a bit more secure. To make the risks even smaller, now the tech giant Microsoft has created its own browser extension.
Named Windows Defender Browser Protection, the extension also has a list of URLs that are blocked in Chrome. The goal is to prevent the machine from being exposed to malware and for phishing attempts not to materialize.
The operation works much like Chrome’s native lock. When clicking on links present in an email or accessing a website directly, the extension verifies that the page is in the list of suspicious links.
When the tool finds something, a red screen appears with a warning that the page may be harmful to the computer.
The tech giant Microsoft claims that the extension was developed with the same protection logic as Edge, which the company sees as the most secure browser. According to the survey, it protects users against 99% of phishing attacks. At the same time, the giant Google’s well-known and the most used web browser, of course, Chrome has protection against 87% of attacks and Firefox 70%.
