Microsoft has updated the Windows 10 Mobile support page and while we all knew the operating system was dead, the end of support is here. The company is officially recommending its Windows 10 Mobile users to move to Android and iOS. The Windows maker wrote that “as of December 10, 2019, Windows 10 Mobile users are no longer eligible to receive new security updates, non-security hotfixes, free assisted support options, or online technical content updates from Microsoft for free.”
Not all devices will be supported through the end date, either. Microsoft writes that for Lumia 640 and 640 XL phone models, Window 10 Mobile version 1703 was the last supported OS version, which will reach end of support on June 11, 2019.

After Microsoft stops sending updates to Windows 10 Mobile, some features will stop working
Microsoft said that after the end of support deadline, some important features may stop working. For example, automatic and manual backups will stop working in March, 2020. However, features like photo uploads may continue to work for an additional 12 months after the end of support.
“With the Windows 10 Mobile OS end of support, we recommend that customers move to a supported Android or iOS device,” Microsoft wrote, adding that the company will support apps on those platforms.
“Microsoft’s mission statement to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more, compels us to support our Mobile apps on those platforms and devices.”
If you don’t want to stop using Windows 10 Mobile after December 10, you should manually create a backup using Settings Update security Backup More Options Back up now before the end of support deadline.
We will probably hear about these “deaths” and end of support alarms a couple of more times before the operating system loved by many in the Windows world actually hits the end of line at the end of this year. But, it looks like this year you will finally have to say goodbye to Windows 10 Mobile for good.
