Microsoft is now opening the gates for its corporate Windows 10 consumers as the latest Windows 10 April 2018 Update is considered ready for the Enterprise. With the release of yesterday’s update that brought the build number up to 17134.165, the April 2018 Update has been tagged with the “Semi-Annual Channel.”
The upgrade in the status was reflected in the company’s documentation that now recommends consumers and businesses to move to Windows 10 April 2018 Update for better security.

The “Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted)” refers to the version of Windows 10 that is deemed good enough for the average user. It takes an additional few months for any Windows 10 version to be upgraded to “Semi-Annual Channel,” which essentially tells the businesses that a new version has been stabilized enough for use inside the corporate environment.
The April 2018 Update previously received the “fully available” label (Microsoft and its forever-changing terminology, we know!) last month, which was considered by some as a sign that the version was ready for businesses. But Microsoft later clarified that it was “the final phase of” April 2018 Update rollout process, which just meant that users don’t need to manually push for installation since it will be available to everyone.
Windows 10 April 2018 Update promoted to “Semi-Annual Channel”
This label is awarded to a new Windows 10 version after the company fixes post-release troubleshooting and compatibility problems. While Windows 10 April 2018 Update broke all the previous records when it comes to user adoption and growth rate, it also had its fair share of issues. Microsoft had to pull the update back from several machines, including some Dell laptops, Intel and Toshiba SSDs, and systems that had Avast antivirus, among other similar cases.

This isn’t an ideal situation for any user but broken systems are a major headache for businesses that can lose their data and workstations thanks to an unstable operating system update.
However, you can now go ahead with Windows 10 April 2018 Update as the latest version is ready to roll inside organizations. At least that’s what Microsoft is saying…
