Microsoft announced today that its focus will be now on stabilization of RS5 and that it has “forked” RS5 into its own branch called RS5_RELEASE. This means that the Skip Ahead Insiders should soon be able to start testing features slated for the release with the Windows 10 2019 edition. Excited? Not so soon…

Microsoft announces resetting Windows 10 Skip Ahead – no, your place isn’t cemented even if you managed to get in last year
The company is resetting its Skip Ahead program ahead of its anticipated start of testing post-RS5 Windows 10 version that will be released in 2019. This is both a good news and a bad news. Bad news if you had managed to sign up for Skip Ahead because you will need to fight for your place, yet again.
However, it is definitely a good news for Windows Insiders who missed out on getting inside the most exclusive branch of the program that lets you in on the most exciting – and broken – features of Windows 10 before they are tested by anyone on the planet (except for Windows engineers, of course).
Insiders who previously opted in to Skip Ahead will be automatically put back into the Fast ring. The option to join Skip Ahead will disappear from the dropdown under Settings Update Security Windows Insider Program.
Microsoft wrote that it is currently working on stabilizing Windows 10 Redstone 5, the version that will be released later this year. “In the coming weeks, we will make an announcement that we have re-opened Skip Ahead for Insiders to opt-in,” the announcement reads.
