Nearly two months since Windows 10 April 2018 Update was released to the public and Microsoft is now completely focused on the development of the next version of its desktop operating system. Codenamed Redstone 5 (which is likely to be the last build carrying the name), Microsoft has been sending a new Windows 10 RS5 Preview Build to its Fast ring and Skip Ahead Insiders almost every week.
However, so far there hasn’t been a new build this week, which usually arrives around midweek. According to Brandon LeBlanc, Senior Program Manager on the Windows Insider Program team, the upcoming Windows 10 RS5 Insider Preview Build could be delayed due to a blocking bug that would prevent Insiders from logging in after updating their machines to this Preview Build.

But if it makes you feel better, it’s looking unlikely we will have a new build this week due to a nasty bug that could prevent people from logging in after updating.

LeBlanc shared this news when someone recommended that Microsoft should announce the dates of Insider Builds so Insiders can plan ahead to test these builds. “What would be so wrong with just pre-announcing #WindowsInsider builds? No sekrit codes, no scouring for clues, just ‘our next build will release on Thursday…’ #frustrating,” the tweet reads.
However, since the Windows maker rarely ever announces the release dates of even final Windows 10 versions and finds it terribly difficult to follow those timelines, it’s a big ask to expect the company to share dates of these test builds that are currently under early development and are often delayed due to bugs and major problems. But if somehow Microsoft can sort this out, it would definitely make Insiders’ lives a lot easier.
