The Nokia 9 PureView leaks have been consistent thus far, with several renders and images revealing the Penta-lens camera system at the back. It has been a while since HMD Global launched a flagship and while we were supposed to get one in 2018 (not counting the Nokia 8 Sirocco), production delays forced the company to push the launch date to 2019. Now a well-known tipster has shared an image of the Nokia 9 PureView while also providing a codename for the device, and there are several things we can see from this render, and we’d like to share that with you.
Nokia 9 PureView Codenamed ‘Beholder’ – Smartphone Was Originally Planned for a 2018 Release
Evan Blass has shared a press render of the Nokia 9 PureView, revealing ‘Beholder’ as its codename. While you can see the Penta-less camera system at the back, you can also notice that the flagship sports an in-display fingerprint scanner. This also reveals that the smartphone will feature an OLED because, at this stage, only such displays are compatible with in-screen fingerprint readers.

The reflective rear side of the Nokia 9 PureView shows that it is made of glass, but we are not sure if the phone will provide Qi wireless charging. Since several devices launched by HMD Global also sport glass backs such as the Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus, it is difficult to conclude if the upcoming flagship will get wireless charging. Another thing to notice is there is no notch on the but it does sport a taller display for increased screen real estate.

According to the branding at the bottom, Nokia 9 PureView will be an Android One handset and it will deliver that fluid stock OS experience without the bloatware. A device belonging to the Android One program will also promise the owner around two years of software updates, with numerous security patches in tow. As for hardware specifications, because the Nokia 9 PureView was intended to launch in 2018 and not 2019, it will retain the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and not the newly launched Snapdragon 855.

The device is also expected to come with a large 4,000+mAh battery, as well as 6GB RAM and 128GB of expandable internal storage. There is no word if the 3.5mm audio jack will be retained but as we are still in the transitionary period, it would be a good idea to keep it. Pricing of the smartphone has yet to be revealed but if you add that premium glass back and front, the Penta-less camera and high-end specifications, we could easily be looking at something between $800-$900.
