NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Launching Next Month, Based on Turing GPU – Features 4 GB VRAM, 128-Bit Bus and Base Clocks of 1485 MHz

NVIDIA seems to be focusing on the mainstream and budget segment now that they’ve completed their high-end and premium graphics card lineup. The latest additions to the mainstream segment would be the GeForce 16 series lineup which utilizes Turing architecture but is labeled as GeForce GTX due to the exclusion of RTX features.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Reportedly Launching in March, Also Based on Turing GPU With Up To 4 GB VRAM

So far, we have known about two GeForce 16 series cards based on earlier leaks. We know there’s the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti which launches tomorrow for $279 US and the GeForce GTX 1660 which launches next month for around $229 US. Now there are rumors floating of a third product in the GeForce 16 series family.

The new graphics card that NVIDIA is working on would be labeled as the GeForce 1650. This card would be the successor to the GeForce GTX 1050 which utilized the Pascal GPU architecture. Now Videocardz confirms that the graphics card is based on the Turing GPU architecture but just like the other GeForce 16 series cards, would lack RT and Tensor cores. The Turing shaders would be available, so the card would end up being faster and more efficient than its predecessors.

There are little details regarding the specifications but it looks like the card would feature the TU117 GPU, a different die compared to the TU116 GPU which is used on the GTX 1660 Ti and GeForce GTX 1660. The main detail that is reported is that the card would feature 4 GB of VRAM which may either be GDDR5 or GDDR6. Since all Turing cards have been based around GDDR6 so far, it is likely that would be the preference but we have to wait and see.

The card is also rumored to feature base clocks of 1485 MHz which is interesting considering it is higher than the boost clocks of its predecessor (1455 MHz GTX 1050 2 GB 1392 MHz GTX 1050 Ti). The core count could be around 896-1024 but that’s something we would have to wait for further leaks to confirm. Power would be rated at 75W as was the case with its predecessors so that would open up options for many budget PC builds.

It is said to launch next month so around the same time as the GeForce GTX 1660 (Non-Ti). It will be really interesting to see how this card holds up. Pricing would be around $150-$200 US which would make it an interesting choice in the budget market.
