NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 6 GB Graphics Card Benchmark Leaked – Around 25% Faster Than The GTX 1060, Similar Performance As The GTX 1070

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti benchmarks leaks are pouring in now that the media have got their hands on it. The graphics card which is expected to launch next week will be aimed at the mainstream audience with a price of $279 US. It seems like the benchmarks show that the card would be a good update for users who are currently running a GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Graphics Card With Turing GPU Benchmarked in AOTS – Has a 25% Performance Lead Over the GTX 1060

We have seen various benchmark leaks of the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti with the most recent one being in Final Fantasy XV which we covered here. Now we have more gaming results coming in from TUM APISAK over at Twitter who posted the GTX 1660 Ti benchmark results in Ashes of The Singularity. We have seen some results in this benchmark before at a more reasonable detail quality of High at 1080p resolution.

The new results were posted with the Crazy preset at 1080p resolution and the graphics card scores 4800 points with all the detail cranked up at HD resolution. Following are the results of the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and other graphics cards:

Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation Crazy (1080p) Score:

  • RTX 2060 – 5500
  • GTX 1070 – 4900
  • GTX 1660 Ti – 4800
  • GTX 1060 – 3800

As you can see in the scores posted above, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is around 25% faster than the GeForce GTX 1060. It delivers about the same performance as the GeForce GTX 1070 while the RTX 2060 is 14% faster than the GTX 1660 Ti. The GeForce GTX 1660 TI is going to cost $279 US which if compared to the $379 US launch price of the GTX 1070, sounds like a pretty solid deal. The slower GTX 1060 had a price of $249 US with non-reference models set at a slightly higher price range. For $30 US over the GTX 1060, the GTX 1660 Ti pumps out around 20-25% more performance. The RTX 2060, on the other hand, is clearly faster than the lot with a price point of $349 US and plus for the custom models.

There’s also the GeForce GTX 1660 (Non-Ti) which is said to be around 10% slower than the GTX 1660 Ti but would cost $229 US, lower than the GTX 1060 did. It will be another interesting solution but for now, we should wait for the final reviews to see how the new RTX-Less Turing GPUs would perform in games.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 TI Specifications (What We Know So Far):

The specifications for the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti include the Turing TU116-400-A1 GPU as its core. The new Turing GPU was pictured last week, showing a completely different die layout compared to the Turing TU106 GPU used on the RTX 2060 and RTX 2070 graphics cards. The core is packed with 1536 CUDA Cores, 96 texture units and clock speeds of 1500 MHz base and 1770 MHz boost.

The card features 6 GB of GDDR6 VRAM that runs across a 192-bit bus interface. Interestingly, the memory is clocked at 12 Gbps compared to 14 Gbps on the RTX cards. This delivers a bandwidth of 288 GB/s which is higher than the 256 GB/s bandwidth on the GeForce GTX 1070. The card would have a TDP of 120W which would be similar to the GeForce GTX 1060 while offering a performance of the GeForce GTX 1070 so that sounds good from an efficiency perspective.

Talking specifically about shading performance which will be the main technology and architecture feature of the GeForce GTX cards, it looks like we are looking at an average 50% improved shading performance per core compared to Pascal. This is not the overall performance increase but rather the rate at which Turing improves upon its predecessor in shader performance. Some leaks earlier showed a 20-30% increase in performance over the GTX 1060, but we will have to wait for more info to see the final performance results that arrive on 22nd February.
