Despite not having a significant presence in the U.S., Huawei is still the second-largest smartphone brand after Samsung, and it has set its sights towards being the number OEM on the planet. Its upcoming Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are both going to be armed with the Kirin 980, the first 7nm FinFET chipset to be found on an Android device, and according to a leakster, these devices are going to be dominating the premium Android phone segment.

According to Ice Universe, Huawei is expected to dominate the Android flagship smartphone space thanks to the Kirin 980, as well as the triple camera sensor that will be present on both the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro. Right now, with the exception of the A12 Bionic and A11 Bionic from Apple’s camp, there is no other chipset found in any Android device that can compete with the Kirin 980 in terms of performance.

The leakster states that the Chinese giant is going to be dominating the high-end market for 5 months because that is how long it will take other manufacturers with improved SoCs to bring out their own competitors. Qualcomm’s first ever 7nm FinFET SoC, the Snapdragon 8150 is expected to be found in the Galaxy S10 family, but its announcement is scheduled to take place in December of this year.

Also, the P20 Pro is still rocking the DxOMark charts for best camera smartphone and while we’d like to say that the triple camera flagship will have different preferences for different users, there is no denying that it provides a top-end optics solution for the masses.

If the P20 Pro still performs like a champ, then the Mate 20 and the Mate 20 Pro are expected to feature improved sensors. Keep in mind that the P20 Pro is the only device with a telephoto lens that can produce 3x optical zoom images and it is able to snap breathtaking low-light shots with the help of software and color correction of course.
