In the midst of expensive flagships like the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus attempt to stand out of the higher priced offerings with more affordable handsets that come with a few compromises.
The OnePlus 6 is expected to yet again follow the same price/performance goal of the company but is expected to come with slightly more features than the OnePlus 5T, which will undoubtedly include powerful internals. Here is our roundup related to everything surrounding the OnePlus 6 rumors, features, specifications, price, release date and more.

OnePlus 6 Display Size and Resolution – The Notch Makes an Appearance
As more and more Android-running smartphones are shipping with the iPhone X botch, the OnePlus 6 certainly does not want to be left behind. In an image leak of what appears to be showcasing the OnePlus 6, the smartphone sports a notch that is thinner than the one present on Apple’s flagship, but it is still there nonetheless. OnePlus was previously criticized for releasing the OnePlus 5 without giving any thought to a unique design approach.
In simple words, the handset strongly resembled the iPhone 7 Plus, but it is not the first time a Chinese smartphone manufacturer has attempted to replicate the iPhone design and it certainly isn’t going to be the last, as we move to a future where an Android notch-touting smartphone army is going to be released.
Additionally, a separate leak states that the device will have an aspect ratio of 19:9 instead of the 18:9 display present on its predecessor. What this means is that the OnePlus 6 could feature a resolution of 2,280 x 1080 instead of 2,160 x 1,080, resulting in a slightly taller display.

It will certainly come in handy when wanting to view more screen real estate, which is why we suspect that the phone will get a 6-inch Optic AMOLED display. Optic AMOLED is different than Super AMOLED and if you want to learn the differences between the two technologies, you can check out the link here.
OnePlus 6 Chipset, RAM and Storage Details
The obvious part about discussing the hardware specifications of the OnePlus 6 will be its SoC. The upcoming flagship will feature a Snapdragon 845, but the phone will need to bring a lot more to the table than just a slightly improved chipset that is made on the same 10nm architecture. Complementing the chipset is 6GB of 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM since we do not believe that there is a need to incorporate additional memory.
If you own the base model of the OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T, then you will know that having 6GB of RAM on an Android smartphone will always be a blessing. We have a gut feeling that in order to keep the costs low, OnePlus 6 might not feature LPDDR5 memory, but perhaps next year we will be looking forward to seeing more efficient and powerful internals.
None of OnePlus’ flagships have ever seen a microSD card slot and the Chinese manufacturer is going to be following tradition with the release of the OnePlus 6. Once again, we could be seeing 64GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage that features 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM that goes up to 128GB if you opt to purchase the model that sports 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM.
However, it is more than possible that the OnePlus 6 features a 256GB capacity model instead of the 128GB one, which is a similar route that Samsung has taken with the announcement of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
OnePlus 6: Few Phones to Keep the Headphone Jack Plus Other Features
Headphone jack: It is strange that OnePlus’ battle cry to market its high-end phones would include something as ancient as the headphone jack but this component is becoming a rarity on high-end smartphones these days. Given the fact that we are in a transitionary period, users would like to keep their headphone jacks on smartphones since it presents a lot of incompatibility problems and you need extra adapters and dongles to listen to music later on.

We still believe that the headphone jack is going to be retained on the OnePlus 6 but is it going to be enough to make the upcoming flagship a success? Most probably not, but there are other things that could make it successful. For example, wireless charging.
Wireless charging (possibly): Though the image posted at the top might be one of the many OnePlus 6 prototypes that have been leaked, a glossy back can either mean that the phone might end up providing support for wireless charging or it is just been placed for an increased aesthetics score.
Dash Charge: Additionally, OnePlus does market its proprietary Dash Charge technology, which rapidly charges the smartphone if you’re using the provided accessories. If this feature is continued to be promoted by the company, then wireless charging will end up being redundant for the user. However, the convenience of wireless charging is something that is not talked about often and some consumers will often switch to wireless charging if it means reducing the cable clutter on their desk or anywhere else.
Water-resistance (possibly): Additionally, we could be seeing IP67 water-resistance on the smartphone, with the specifications actually listing that the phone will be able to keep out dust and water to a certain degree.
No 3D sensing module: Since acquiring a 3D sensing solution might be too expensive for the OnePlus 6, Face Unlock will most definitely be included but it will be operating at a software level.
Two-way security: We do not think that the smartphone will get an in-display fingerprint reader and will instead rely on the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that is positioned in an ‘easy to reach’ location and will unlock the device instantly as it recognizes your fingerprint.
OnePlus 6 Camera Details
Unlike the OnePlus 5T, we’re hoping to see the 2x optical zoom feature make a return to the OnePlus 6. Since the phone will feature a dual-camera, you will get features such as Portrait Mode. Sadly, the phone is not exactly a device that is meant for camera aficionados. It will produce satisfactory-level image and video quality but we do not believe that it will be on par with the likes of the Galaxy S9, iPhone X or the Pixel 2.
OnePlus 6 Release Date
Carl Pei, the founder of OnePlus does not have a lot of activity taking place on his Twitter handle related to the OnePlus 6, although one rumor suggested that the flagship was going to be unveiled early so it is able to take on the likes of Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, Mi7, LG G7 and others. If the CEO has not unveiled anything related to the announcement, it definitely means that the OnePlus 6 is not going to be announced this month.
Given below are the specifications and features that we believe will be present on the OnePlus 6. Obviously, these are just speculative at the moment but we’ll continue to update them so that you get access to the latest information. That being said, do let us know what sort of features are you expecting from the upcoming flagship down in the comments.
