OnePlus 6T Gets a Price Cut, Signaling the Imminent Arrival of the OnePlus 7

OnePlus is expected to launch two new devices this year. One of them will no doubt be its flagship that will succeed last year’s premium offering and for now, we will be calling it the OnePlus 7. In order to gear up to release the OnePlus 7, the company has decided to reduce the price of the OnePlus 6T, revealing that the unveiling of the flagship might not be far, even if the price cut is just limited to a single market for now.

OnePlus 6T Price Cut Is Only Being Observed in China, for Now

Even though the OnePlus 6T price cut has only been done in China, it is yet another sign that the Chinese OEM is ready to introduce the OnePlus 7 to the market. The base model of the OnePlus 6T, which features 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory now costs CNY 2999, or slightly less than $450. This makes the Snapdragon 845-powered flagship a huge value proposition in China. To give you an example, Apple recently reduced the price of its iPhone XR and iPhone XS and this resulted in a massive sales increase.

While there are several OnePlus 6T storage and memory configurations being offered in China, only the first two have their prices reduced. The first one we’ve already told you guys, while the second one now costs CNY 3199, or $480 instead of CNY 3599, or $535. This model provides 8GB RAM coupled with 12GB of internal storage. Like the OnePlus 6T, we don’t believe the OnePlus 7 will ship with a 3.5mm audio jack. However, we do believe that the flagship will feature an optical in-display fingerprint sensor, along with the same Optic AMOLED screen present on the previous OnePlus handsets.

The price reduction might be partially related to the new tax law introduced in China to boost the economy, but it is still going to be a win-win situation for the customer. Since the OnePlus 6 arrived back in May 2018, we believe that the OnePlus 7 could be unveiled next month or maybe in June this year.

Whenever it is announced, we’ll be here to provide you with all the details, so stay tuned.
