With the OnePlus 6T, OnePlus finally made it to the US market. While users could purchase the company’s handsets online before the OnePlus 6T was launched, now they will have an opportunity to get OnePlus smartphone directly via T-Mobile. The company’s CEO Pete Lau has now shared a statistic which promises impressive sales performance from the OnePlus 6T in its first month after launch. Take a look below for more details.
OnePlus’ CEO Claims That OnePlus 6T Grew By 249% In Sales Over Its Predecessor
Recently, it’s been OnePlus’ CEO Pete Lau who has made regular press appearances instead of the company’s co-founder Carl Pei. Mr. Lau spoke at Qualcomm’s tech summit in Huawei, and at the same summit, shared an interesting statistic with PCMag. According to him, sales for the OnePlus 6T in its first month post-launch grew by 249% when compared to those for a similar time period for the gadget’s predecessor.

It’s important to note that since OnePlus does not provide sales data segregated by countries, we can’t ascertain with certainty that a 249% sales increase translates into meaningful revenue generation for the company. OnePlus claims a growth in sales at a time when shipments for high-end gadgets are going down; an apparent indication that the company’s price-feature mix might be proving fruitful.
The OnePlus 6T has different aesthetics over its predecessor. The smartphone features a teardrop notch, no 3.5mm earphone jack and virtual fingerprint recognition. OnePlus received a lot of user flak for switching to a traditional notch with the OnePlus 6, and with the gadget’s successor, the company seems to be eager to change this. After all, it’s its dedicated fanbase which helped propel OnePlus in the limelight despite a much smaller scale of operations.
As OnePlus enters the US market, we can’t help but wonder if the company’s cost-feature mix will manage to continue in the future. As Samsung readies its major overhauls to the Galaxy S lineup next years, other companies are sure to feel the heat. Thoughts? Let us know what you think in the comments section below and stay tuned.
