RAGE 2 Nintendo Switch Release Not Ruled Out; id Software Evaluating Whether its Possible

A RAGE 2 Nintendo Switch release isn’t ruled out if id Software’s studio head, Tim Willits, is to be believed.

Whether the upcoming sequel will ever see the light on Nintendo’s hybrid platform remains to be seen however as the game’s development team is currently evaluating the Switch’s tech to see if the game would be able to run properly on the platform.

“We’re looking at the tech on that right now, and we’re still evaluating that”, the studio head told Variety in a recent interview. “We stream everything, and we’re just looking… because everything is open, everything’s available, so there are no level loads. We are looking at that now, but we don’t know.”

id Software already released its Switch port of DOOM and Wolfenstein II: The new Colossus on Nintendo’s latest platform, and the upcoming Doom Eternal will also release on the Switch. We can only hope that RAGE 2 will also make its entry on the hybrid platform.

RAGE 2 was announced back in May of this year ahead of Bethesda’s 2018 E3 press conference due to competition with Bethesda’s upcoming Fallout 76, and is slated for a release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 in 2019.
