In addition to the camera, Samsung also switched positions for the fingerprint sensor on the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The sensor is now beneath the upgraded cameras, in a bid to make usage easier. Word on the street suggests that Samsung was blind sided last year, when it expected to introduce virtual fingerprint recognition on the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. As a result, the company hastily placed the fingerprint sensor beside the camera on its 2017 flagship smartphones.

However, this does not sound very authentic, especially as the company has had plenty of time to introduce virtual fingerprint recognition over the year. Moving on to the unboxing video for the Galaxy S9+, things do not change much over the year, just like on the smartphones themselves.
However, this does not mean things are completely unchanged. There are subtle differences for inside the box contents as well. Last year, Samsung was very generous with cables, manuals and adapters, an approach which suits the price tag it demands for high-end Galaxy S smartphones. This year, the company does not provide a microUSB to USB-C adapter for the Galaxy S9+.
Design wise, the gadget is similar to its predecessor, just as predicted by the rumor mill. At this point in time, Samsung is reusing old concepts in a move likely to ensure no supply build ups. After all, the Korean tech giant manages a very complicated supply chain to make sure that its smartphones do not fall behind any other offering on the market.
