Second Galaxy Watch Update Improves Battery Charging and More

The state of Android smartwatches is still grim. The Apple Watch outclasses every Android wearable on the market right now, and we don’t see that changing anytime soon. Samsung appears to be the only big player who comes close with their Galaxy Watch, which was released more than a month ago. Samsung is now pushing the update for the Galaxy Watch over the air. The new update brings improvements to the overall usability and user experience on the watch and for playing music, although the changelog doesn’t go into detail about exactly what these improvements are.

Second Galaxy Watch bumps up Tizen version to 4.0.0.1

The latest update for the Galaxy Watch bumps up the OS version to Tizen 4.0.0.1 and comes with build number R800XXU1BRJ4 and R810XXU1BRJ4 for the 42 mm and 46 mm Galaxy Watch respectively. The update is currently available in the US and should be making its way to other regions soon. The update will be available via the Galaxy Wearable application on your smartphone.

The update also enhances the reliability of battery charging. We’ve seen battery-related keywords in several update changelogs for most Samsung smartwatches in recent month. But, there have been no reports of a Galaxy Note 7-esque event with any of Samsung’s wearables, so it is likely that Samsung is just fine-tuning things for good measure. We’re not entirely sure what the Music Play part of the log entails just yet.
