Although it’ll be a while before Android Pie makes it way to non-Pixel/Essential devices, OEMs have already begun scheduling the release for their devices. Yesterday, Motorola and HTC listed the devices that would be eligible for Android Pie, and today it’s Sony’s turn. In a blog post, the company stated:
The good news is: you won’t have to wait too long to get the brand-new version of Android on your Xperia device. Our Premium-range models are expected to have the upgrade available from November, meaning owners of the Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Premium, XZ2 Compact, Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact will be among the first to get their hands on the new tech.
As expected, Sony’s flagship devices will get the update first, starting November. But, you could very well have to wait until next year, depending on where you live and carrier preferences. Additionally, owners of XA2, XA2 Ultra and XA2 Plus devices can expect to access the upgrade in early 2019. There’s even an infographic that shows the journey of an Android update

Sony’s software update program has been relatively better, so you can expect to see an update hit your device in November. There’s no word about devices older than the Xperia XA2’s, so you’ll probably be stuck with Oreo for the foreseeable future.
