Earlier this week, Sony announced its IMX586, the world’s first 48MP camera sensor dedicated for smartphones that could take photography and videography to the next echelon and what better way to use it than to incorporate it in the Japanese giant’s very own flagship, the Xperia XZ3. We’ve heard a lot about the smartphone, and how it could be getting unveiled during the IFA 2018 trade show that will be held in Berlin. We’ve got our hands on some specifications via a gaming benchmarking application and we’d like you to check it out right away.
Sony Xperia XZ3 Could End up Sporting a Triple-Camera Lens Setup and Competing With the P20 Pro Straight Away
A GFXBench screenshot has been spotted on Weibo, with the Sony smartphone in question featuring the model number H8416, with an octa-core processor clock speed of 2.70GHz. This can only point towards the presence of a Snapdragon 845, which only means that the next smartphone it could be featured in might end up being the Sony Xperia XZ3.

However, the specification that really caught our eye was the number in the camera department, where it has been written ‘47 MP’. This cannot be a mere coincidence because how else is Sony going to show off the proficiency of its 48MP brand new camera sensor without featuring it in its very own mobile offering, the XZ3. Chances are that the Xperia XZ3 becomes the first triple-camera sensor-touting flagship from Sony and competes with Huawei’s P20 Pro in the process.
To remind you, P20 Pro is armed with a 40MP + 20MP + 8MP rear camera configuration, and it would make sense for Sony to feature a triple camera setup too considering the numbers you’re seeing right now. While nothing is concrete at the moment, the other specifications reveal that the device will have slimmer bezels thanks to the resolution reported as 2,160 x 1,080.
Still, we’ll remind you to read and take this information with a pinch of salt because numbers and other details like this can easily be manipulated and changed. Still, would you like to see the Xperia XZ3 feature a 48MP camera sensor before any other flagship does? Tell us down in the comments.
