Sony’s mobile division isn’t doing so well and its reluctance to keep up with the changing times hasn’t helped matters much. However, the company is apparently betting on the 5G revolution to breathe new life into its smartphones business and if some recent leaks are to go by, the upcoming Sony Xperia XZ4 might do the trick. This isn’t the first time the device has leaked, but the new rumor has shed light on most of the key specifications of the alleged flagship.
Sony Xperia XZ4 New Specifications Include a Large 6.55-Inch Screen With a Near-4,000mAh Battery
The CAD renders of the smartphone had shown up last week, and they indicated a rear triple camera system and a gargantuan 6.5-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 21:9. The screen would reportedly be made by LG and it won’t have the notch. According to the tipster Ice Universe, the Xperia XZ4 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 855 chipset, because what else will Sony rely on to fuel its best flagship of the year. It will come with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 256GB of internal memory.

The phone will reportedly have a side mounted fingerprint reader and the main shooter at the back will have a 1/2.3-inch sensor with OIS (optical image stabilization) support. The front camera will have a super wide-angle lens. According to previous reports, the phone will feature a massive a 3,900mAh battery and it will ship with Android 9 Pie right off the bat.
Perhaps the most interesting bit is the claim that the 3.5mm audio jack will make a comeback. The same was alleged a few days ago and given that Ice Universe is usually spot on with these claims, we are not sure what to make of this piece of this information as this would be the first time a company brings back the beloved audio jack after removing it from its premium lineup. Moreover, those CAD renders of the phone’s case had not indicated any audio-only port.
The phone will probably be unveiled during the CES in January, followed by a release around the same time as the MWC trade show in February, so we will have to wait till then to find out about the fate of the audio jack.
