That Time of the Year Again… Microsoft Opens Limited Skip Ahead Slots For You to Test Windows 10 19H2

Earlier this week, we reported that Microsoft was considering to begin simultaneously testing Windows 10 October 2019 Update (version 1909) along with the currently work-in-progress version 1903. The company has now opened its Skip Ahead program to enable eager Windows Insiders opt in to receive super early builds of the Windows version that will be released at the end of this year.

As always, slots are limited and Microsoft doesn’t allow any Insiders to get in once Skip Ahead is full. If you are okay with dealing with some damning bugs and enjoy some early look at the new features, this is the perfect opportunity for you to opt in to Skip Ahead. However, if you don’t like new builds bringing more bugs than features, it’s better to wait for when 19H2 builds are available for the Fast and Slow Ring Insiders, which should happen around/after April.

No new Windows 10 19H1 builds coming this week

In a tweet, Microsoft has also confirmed that it won’t be sending any new Windows 10 Insider Preview Build to Fast Ring Insiders from the 19H1 branch. “Hello Insiders! It’s #BugBash week and we were hoping to release yet another release for you to preview, however we found a bug and the build we were considering won’t be released,” the company tweeted. “Bummer! We’ll share more later in the week if we end up with a different candidate. Cheers!”

Microsoft is almost at the end of the development process of the upcoming version of Windows 10 – the April 2019 Update aka version 1903 aka 19H1. Currently, the focus remains on bug fixing and performance improvements more than delivering any new features but we are still hoping to see at least something exciting coming up before everything new gets pushed to 19H2 release.
