The Essential phone has had its set of problems since its release, and thankfully, software updates were not on that otherwise long list. However, users had to wait a long time for the update, because of the company opting to skip Android Oreo 8.0 altogether and make the jump to Oreo 8.1, citing compatibility issues. There was an open beta for Oreo 8.1 launched for users some time ago, and now, the stable release is ready for download OTA.
